GREETINGS…  Welcome to the website of the Tucson Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction.  I would like to personally thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to check us out.

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) originally began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, Texas. It was founded in 1953 by 16 women working in the construction industry.  Knowing that women represented only a small fraction of the construction industry, the founders organized NAWIC to create a support network. Women in Construction of Fort Worth was so successful that it gained its national charter in 1955 and became the National Association of Women in Construction.

NAWIC has a diverse membership and has grown to more than 150 chapters, with chapters in almost every U.S. state. Since 1996, NAWIC has seen its Core Purpose grow worldwide and has International Affiliation Agreements with the Canadian Association of Women in Construction, NAWIC-Australia, NAWIC-New Zealand, NAWIC-United Kingdom and South African Women in Construction. In NAWIC’s 58 years of service to its membership, the Association has advanced the causes of all women in construction, from tradeswomen to business owners.

The Tucson Chapter of NAWIC was founded in April of 1966.  We are lucky and blessed to still have a Chartering Member – Shirley Dail of Shirley’s Plan Service as a Current Member.  Although times certainly have changed in the Tucson Construction Industry since 1966 – the core purpose of NAWIC has essentially remained the same – To Enhance the Success of Women in Construction.

For more than 45 years, The Tucson Chapter of NAWIC has helped women take advantage of the opportunities in construction. Whether you want to embark on a new career, establish a networking base, be a mentor/mentee, make a difference in your community, continue your education, work on leadership skills, or invest in great friendships, NAWIC offers a variety of opportunities — large and small.

We hope that you will try and attend our next meeting and discover the value that NAWIC can bring both to your professional and personal life.

I look forward to meeting you!
