WIC Week 2010 March 7‐13 Recap

Our ladies did such a great job with WIC Week this year!  Many of us wore a NAWIC shirt everyday, used  NAWIC Mouse pads, had our Building Bridges logo as our wallpaper, had WIC Week 2010 as our Screensaver, and wore our WIC Week pins during the week.  We also wrote and sent a Press Release to the magazines and papers in the area and received Proclamations from the Mayor and the Governor.

We had an "Ad" up on our City of Tucson Development Services (where people pick up their permits) electronic message board during WIC Week and the week leading up to WIC Week.  We got a call for some work from it!  And we have some prospective new members; the ladies from Development Services!

I set up a jobsite tour at one of the jobs that my company is working on.  Core Construction was very gracious in allowing us to do it.  The Project Manager and two Safety Coordinators answered many questions that the ladies had while we toured the U of A Dorms.  I chose that site because there are five buildings going up and they were all at different phases of construction.  The ladies favorite part was the tunnel.  They had asked to see what I do, which is Fire Sprinkler Design, and the bulk of our pipe was down in the tunnel system that runs throughout the U of A.  The tour is where all of our pictures are from.  We had a very special guest join us as well.  Our own Region 8 Director, Linda Champlin-Frank got to go on the tour with us, so that was great!

We recapped the jobsite tour that night at our membership meeting where we discussed the happenings earlier that day.  One of the highlights was the lifting of the port-a-johns up to the 5th floor.  We were told it would be good of us not to stand under them!  Duh!!

And, last, but certainly not least, a bunch of the NAWIC ladies met with our president, Tina Adams, and our Director, Linda, for breakfast at IHOP on Thursday morning before Linda was to go to the airport.

Thank you, Tucson Chapter, for a wonderful WIC Week!!
